What's with the name "The Dude Hates Cancer"?
"The Dude" is the main character in the Coen Brothers' bowling-centric, cult classic movie, The Big Lebowski, and
considering the nature of TDHC and our love of this movie we decided to incorporate the character into the event's title.
We highly recommend you check this film out if you've never seen it! Acclaimed actor Jeff Bridges stars as Jeffrey Lebowski (aka
'The Dude'), and the star-studded cast also features John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore,
John Turturro, and Tara Reid. Over the past couple of years, Bridges has been kind enough to donate autographed merchandise
to the event to help raise more money for the cause!
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! All donations to the event are tax-deductible, including a team's registration fee. All donations from
businesses -- whether they're monetary or donations of goods and services -- are also tax-deductible.
Where does the money raised for the cause go?
All money raised at the event goes directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where it's used in part to fund life-saving blood
cancer research. LLS also provides a great deal of support to those currently fighting forms of blood cancer. Here's a
breakdown of how the money is invested:
LLS Financial Information
I have a team with more than 10 people for this year's event. Is that okay?
We'll certainly allow a team to have 11 or 12 bowlers, but please know that only six can bowl at a time. Also,
should your team happen to win the tournament, we'll only have prizes for up to 10 people. If that's okay with you, then it's
okay with us, as well. If you think you'll have enough people to fill a team and then some, we encourage you to
consider forming two teams (provided there is still room left for more teams).
Do I have to bowl to participate?
Most certainly not. If you're not a bowler but still want to join in on the fun, there are still plenty of ways to come out
and support the cause! The after-party, featuring an excellent lineup of music, is open to the public and all money
collected at the door goes to the cause. Additionally, We'll have a silent auction and raffle going on during the
bowling, and there are many other fun activities to take part in while others are bowling.
